01What MyTierList is

MyTierList (“the service”, “we”) is a website at mytierlist.net for making tier lists: a template holds a set of pictures and names, and anyone can arrange them into tiers and save the arrangement as a list. Public lists are combined into a consensus view of each template.

These terms are the agreement between you and the operator of MyTierList. By creating an account, saving a list, or using the API you accept them. The privacy policy explains what we do with data and is part of this agreement.

02Your account

You need an account to save lists, make templates, or use the API. You can sign in with an email address and password, or a Google or X account. One person, one account; an account is not for sharing or for sale.

You must be at least 13 years old, or older where the law of your country sets a higher age for using online services without a parent’s consent.

Keep your password and API keys to yourself. Everything done with your account is yours to answer for until you tell us it has been compromised. You can close your account at any time from the account page; the privacy policy says what that removes.

03What you upload

The pictures, names, descriptions and notes you add remain yours. You give us the licence we need to run the service: to store your content, to resize and re-encode pictures, to translate the text of templates into the languages the site is shown in, to display the content on the site and through the API, and to show it inside the lists other people make from your templates.

Upload only what you have the right to upload. A picture of a character, product or person that you did not make is fine when you are entitled to use it; a picture that infringes someone’s copyright, trademark or privacy is not. If a rights holder asks us to remove something and the request is well founded, we will — the copyright page says how to ask.

Pictures are stored once, by content: two uploads of the same file share one copy. A picture stays stored for as long as any template, list or profile refers to it, whoever uploaded it, and is removed within about a week of the last reference going away.

04Public and private

A template can be public or private. A public template is visible to anyone, can be ranked, forked and linked to by anyone, appears in listings and search engines, and the lists made from it feed the consensus view. A private template is visible only to you, but a list you save from it and share by link is visible to whoever has the link.

A public list is a page of its own. Its address is hard to guess but not secret: anyone who has the link can open it. Your display name is shown on the templates and lists you make public.

Picture addresses are public and not tied to an account. They are long and random, so they are found only by someone who has been given them, but a picture that has been shared cannot be made private afterwards.

05Acceptable use

We do not review content before it is published. Readers can report a template or a list, and we act on reports. The following is not allowed:

  • Content that is unlawful where you are or where we are, including sexual content involving minors, threats, and content that incites violence or hatred against a group.
  • Harassment of a person, or content whose purpose is to expose someone’s private information.
  • Content that infringes another person’s copyright, trademark or other rights.
  • Impersonating a person or organisation, or misrepresenting where content came from.
  • Spam: templates or lists whose purpose is advertising, link placement or manipulation of the consensus view.
  • Automated access other than through the API, circumventing rate limits, or anything that interferes with the service or with other people’s use of it.

06Enforcement

We may hide content from every public surface, remove it, put a template out of the search index, or suspend an account, with or without notice, when these terms are broken or when we believe the law requires it. A hidden template stays available to its owner. A suspended account cannot sign in and its sessions end at once.

Where we can, we tell you what was hidden and why, and you can write to us if you think we got it wrong.

07The API

The API and the MCP endpoint let programs do what the site does, under an API key you create on the API page. Requests are limited per minute and per month according to your plan; the limits are shown on the API page and in every response. Keys can be revoked at any time. A key is yours to protect; anything done with it counts as done by you.

The API may change. We try to keep changes compatible and to announce ones that are not.

08Ending the service or your use of it

You can stop at any time and delete your account. Your lists, your image library and your private templates go with it. A public template that other people have ranked or forked stays on the site without an owner, because taking it away would break their lists; if you want a public template gone, make it private or contact us first.

We may change, suspend or end the service, or any part of it. If we end it, we will say so in advance where we can, and the API will let you export your templates and lists until then.

09No warranty, limited liability

The service is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. We do not promise it will be available at all times, that content will be preserved for ever, or that the consensus view is right. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability to you for anything arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, which for a free account is nothing.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

10Changes to these terms

We may change these terms. A change is announced on this page with a new effective date, and for changes that matter we also notify signed-in users on the site. Using the service after the effective date means you accept the new terms; if you do not, close your account before then.

11Law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, without regard to rules that would apply another law. Where the law where you live gives you protection that cannot be taken away by agreement, you keep it.

Questions about these terms go to contact@mytierlist.net.
